Varicose Veins?

There are different types of veins in your body. Some examples are deep and superficial. Deep veins are centrally located and carry a majority of your blood back to your heart. Superficial veins carry a small portion of your blood and are located closer to your skin. When they are not functioning correctly, they can become varicose veins.

Spider or varicose veins form because of faulty valves in a superficial vein. The pressure from the excess blood can cause the vein to swell and be painful.
Signs of venous disease other than visual can be your legs swelling at the end of the day. If when you elevate your feet, or when you wake up in the morning and they are back to normal size, chances are you have some type of venous disease.

Many times, varicose veins have a common link to your heredity. So chances are if your mother or father have or had varicose veins, you are more likely to have them yourself.  Varicose veins can often only be visible in one leg or only have symptoms in one leg.  They do not have to be in both.  If one leg is bothering you, don’t just brush it off.
