Rhett Layman, MD joined Memphis Vascular Center as an interventional radiologist in 2023.
Douglas Rhett Layman is a board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologist with Memphis Radiological, PC. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee before completing his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine.
Dr. Layman completed his transitional internship at Methodist University Hospital, followed by residency training in Diagnostic Radiology through the UTHSC Methodist Radiology Residency Program, where he served as Chief Resident and coordinated the medical student radiology rotation. He went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Interventional Radiology at University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Board certified in both Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Layman is an active member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, and Radiological Society of North America.
Dr. Layman has a strong clinical focus on minimally invasive image-guided therapies, with particular expertise in uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) and hemorrhoid artery embolization (HAE). He is passionate about offering patients effective, non-surgical treatment options that improve quality of life while minimizing recovery time. His practice also includes a broad range of advanced interventional procedures with an emphasis on patient-centered care and innovation in minimally invasive medicine.
Recognized for both clinical and educational excellence, Dr. Layman has received honors including the Irving K. Ettman, M.D. Scholarship Award and the Golden Apple Subspecialty Resident Educator Award. His professional interests include interventional radiology operations, consultative IR, quality improvement, and medical education. He has also contributed to academic research through publications and presentations at national medical conferences.
